Suzanne studied law at University College London and was called to the Bar at the Middle Temple. Throughout her adult life she has been passionately interested in the education of young people. She was made a Bencher of the Middle Temple in 2019 for her outstanding contribution, over a period of 25 years, to the Middle Temple in training young students, pupils and barristers in oral and written advocacy skills.
Suzanne chairs the Pupillage and Tenancy Committee at Francis Taylor Building and is responsible for ensuring that the recruitment of aspiring barristers is both fair and rigorous and that their training is comprehensive and challenging.
In 2023, Suzanne obtained Freedom of the City of London. She was then elected to the Court of Common Council for the wards of Temple and Farringdon Together and has been admitted as a member to the Freedom and Livery of the Worshipful Company of Butchers.
Suzanne is consistently recognised as a leader in this specialist field of work in the Legal 500 and in Chambers and Partners. She has spent most of her career in three main capacities. Firstly, seeking to act in the public interest, for local planning authorities in promoting their local plans and in defending their position at large public inquiries usually against volume housebuilders or land speculators. She seeks to give pragmatic, strategic advice to authorities who are almost always resource challenged.
Secondly, for high end niche developers in promoting residential regeneration schemes on previously developed land.
Thirdly, for water utility companies mainly in promoting their water resource management plans and advising on drought planning and drought orders, particularly in London.
She is a member of the Planning and Environment Bar Association, the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association, the Compulsory Purchase Association, and the Administrative Law Bar Association. She is also a member of the Reform Club.
Suzanne spends her free time socialising with friends and family. She particularly enjoys travelling, music, the arts, and reading. She is particular interested in history and runs a Military History Group.
